I've always wanted to do a pull-up but it's just not in my wheelhouse. Same with the monkey bars - I used to be able to do them as a kid, but I just can't get myself over the bar these days. The benches at our gym aren't high enough to let me use them to do assisted pull-ups (or the bar is too high - six of one, half dozen of the other...). I do inverted rows a lot, which are still a good exercise, but I don't think that they're really going to help me eventually do a pull-up.
So, for my birthday yesterday, I asked for a P90X Chin-up Max from my brother and sister (I also asked for a Le Creuset pot from my husband - being an adult is so exciting!). So, of course, I needed to do a workout that let me test out my new toy (the Chin-up Max, not the pot. Although the pot is pretty freaking heavy, I could probably get a good workout carrying that thing around.). This workout will take you less than 30 minutes and will work your entire body with blasts of cardio as well as strength components.
If you can't do pull-ups (no shame!), feel free to use a chair to assist, or substitute inverted rows.
Enjoy!
