Fitness can be expensive.  Between gym memberships, gadgets to track your workouts or steps or weight, the latest clothing or shoes, and equipment, being fit can make your wallet pretty lean.

But it doesn't have to.  Here are some tips for saving money on your fitness:
  • Skip the pedometer - it's a waste of money.  You can easily just count your steps during the day in your head or on your fingers.
  • Got an old rubber band ball (or just a lot of rubber bands lying around)?  Loop them together, end to end, and you've got yourself a resistance band that's easily adjustable.
  • Forgo the pricey gym membership and just sneak in with the clean towels every morning.  You'll also get some bonus cardio work in if you have to run away from the staff, management, or the cops after you get caught.
  • Not sure how to do yoga but don't want to shell out for a class at a private studio?  Just look around and imitate things you see - like trees, dogs, pigeons, warriors (you know, if you live centuries ago), and snakes. It's pretty much the same thing.
  • Forget about buying expensive kettlebells.  Just pick up whatever heavy object happens to be handy and swing it around.  Toddlers and pets work really well for this - the flailing that they do give you some extra stability work.
  • Don't waste $20+ on that fancy new workout class.  Do what they did in Bridesmaids and "audit" a class.  I mean, they let you do it in college, which is pretty much the only type of class that's more ridiculously priced than these fancy workout classes today.
So, there you have it.  Just a few ways to save a buck.  No need to thank me.

(Happy (early) April Fools!)
